FAQ

How does Keyfetch work?
Keyfetch is simple, safe and incredibly effective. We connect our owners who have lost their valuables with the people who find them, via a secure and anonymous chat messaging system. Step 1 – Log into your Keyfetch account and report your item lost. This will notify us that your ID number is no longer in your possession. You may even choose to post a message to the future finder of your valuables via a secure link. Step 2 – Once your personal item has been found, the instructions on the key tag/wallet card or mobile phone sticker will direct the finder to www.keyfetch.co.uk where he/she will enter your unique 16-digit ID number. We automatically notify you that your item has been located. Step 3 – The next step is to put you in touch with the finder. Once the finder has written to you via a secure chat room, we send you another email asking you to reply. You will both receive notifications to ensure each other’s messages are being read. Simply arrange a mutually convenient collection time and place, either face to face or using the professional services of taxis or couriers. For safe recovery tips, please consult Keyfetch collection tips As easy as that, your valuables have been recovered and we make a donation to charity on the finder's behalf*. Because one good deed should be rewarded with another ! *T&C apply

I just found some keys or a mobile phone with a Keyfetch tag/sticker, what now?
First and foremost, thank you for reaching out to the owner via Keyfetch. Returning lost items has never been made so easy and reliable with the use of basic technology which we are all familiar with. Step 1 - The first thing you need to do is visit www.keyfetch.com and type in the 16-digit ID number shown on the tag/sticker, as well as your email address (which stays hidden at all times). Step 2 - You will then be redirected to a secure chat room where you can send a message to the owner to let him/her know you have their personal item and arrange a mutually convenient pick-up. Step 3 - As soon as we are notified by the owner that he/she has got their item back, we will set aside a small donation to charity on your behalf. Check out our how Keyfetch works page for more information.

I just bought a Duo or Family Plan, how do I activate multiple plans on my account?
Each Keyfetch Pack has a unique ID number which will need to be activated individually. You can activate all ID numbers for your Duo or Family Plan by logging into your Keyfetch account and registering the relevant information for each ID number. Remember, there is only one master account holder which all other IDs bought on the same price plan are linked to. You will need to use the master account holder's login details in order to add any extra ID numbers, but individual contact details can be added to each ID number.
How does Keyfetch protect my privacy?
The Keyfetch retrieval system allows our owners to be reunited with their lost valuables while never disclosing any of their personal information to finders. Our website is also protected with the latest encryption technology meaning all your personal and payment details will never be disclosed or shared with any 3rd party, unless relevant to provide our service to our members. Please check our Privacy Policy for more information.
Why would someone return my lost valuables?
We believe in the power of altruism. Today, social responsibility towards one another is no longer optional to help us improve our lives. Through surveys and independent testing of our service, we believe that an overwhelming majority of lost keys (90%) will be returned to their owners, if ever recovered. Because wallets and mobile phones can unfortunately be monetized, the recovery rate will be lower on those items if lost. However, we do believe the vast majority of people will consider returning them promptly, especially if presented with a hassle-free way of doing so.
Do I have to pay a reward for the recovery of my valuables?
No. Our finders are rewarded via the charitable donation we make on their behalves*.

Can you guarantee that I will find my personal items in the event I lose them?
While we expect to find most of our members’ belongings, we simply cannot guarantee a successful recovery every time as certain environmental factors are down to luck. We apologize in advance if it happens to you. Please do not hesitate to visit our terms and conditions or contact us to get in touch.
Does Keyfetch work internationally?
Yes, no matter where you are in the world, our online retrieval system allows key finders to contact owners of lost items anonymously and safely through a simple chat system. You can therefore arrange to have your valuables returned anywhere in the world.
What happens if my tag or card is damaged?
In the unlikely event that your key tag or wallet card breaks or is damaged, we will send you a replacement pack along with a new 16-digit ID number. Keyfetch will then cancel your previous 16-digit tag number and you’ll be able to register your new ID number upon receipt. Please visit contact us to report any broken or damaged product (note a small processing fee may apply at management discretion). Subscription renewals do not automatically come with a new pack, unless requested otherwise by members (free of charge).
Am I still protected after my Keyfetch subscription expires?
No, Keyfetch memberships run for 1 year, 3 years or 5 years. We send our members a first reminder 15 days before expiration, a second reminder 3 days before expiration and a final reminder on the actual expiration date. In the event a member decided not to renew but still kept a Keyfetch cover on his personal items, our system would no longer recognize their ID number.
Am I covered if I lose my personal items more than once?
Of course! However, please note that Keyfetch is not obligated to make a donation to charity every time you recover a lost item. Consult the terms and conditions for more information.

What happens if I change my email address or mobile number?
Our retrieval system relies on you having up-to-date details registered to your ID number to ensure that you can be notified you when your items are recovered. It is your responsibility to monitor your account and make sure your correct email and mobile phone information is valid.
How many keys can I attach to my key tag?
You can attach as many keys as you like to any one key tag as it protects the entire set it is attached to. In the event you wanted to cover multiple key sets or multiple family members, please check out our Keyfetch Duo and Family Plans which offer multiple Keyfetch Packs at greatly discounted rates.

Is Keyfetch active on social networks?
Absolutely! Our Facebook and Twitter pages are full with great content and giveaways. So join our community now and make sure you don’t miss out !
How secure is the retrieval chat room between owners and finders?
It is as secure as it gets ! First, neither parties see each other's details as the chat is administered by a centralized engine hiding email addresses on both sides. There are simply no electronic ways for finders in possession of your items to find out who they are speaking with during the retrieval process. We do not advise our owners to disclose any information about their identity as they are conversing with finders to organize pick-up. Second, it is clearly stated that all chat conversations are recorded to prevent any unlikely unethical behaviours to occur. Keyfetch will use these recordings if necessary to safeguard the interest of its members against any rare case of ill-intentioned finders.
